WSA Announces New Professional Development Opportunities

| February 23, 2012

The Webster Staff Alliance is pleased to announce two new professional development opportunities for staff. WSA will begin accepting applications immediately for two new cohort programs slated to begin May 2012. This program will consist of two separate tracks:

• Track One: Telephone Doctor and Service Skills Series (10 applicants will be accepted) – This series contains 46 modules, 20 of which come directly from service guru Nancy Friedman. Learn how to handle the irate customer, learn the five forbidden phrases in service and the words you can use instead, discover six steps to recovering an interaction gone wrong and much more in this series. You can find detailed information and all module titles on the ServiceSkills website.

• Track Two: Management Skills Series (10 applicants will be accepted) – This series contains six modules focusing on developing skills to navigate challenging personnel issues. Learn how to make the most of your annual performance reviews, gain commitment and learn how to use behavior based interviewing to determine that a candidate actually possesses the competencies you are seeking. You can find detailed information and all module titles on the ServiceSkills website.

The opportunity to apply to these programs is open to all Webster University staff at all locations. Please note that the permission of your supervisor is required to apply as the program will involve a commitment to completion of online training and attendance at five online meetings throughout the 2012-13 academic year. Note that no travel is required to participate. You can find detailed information about the program, time commitment and steps to applying here: http://bit.ly/xIHJvb

All applications are due by April 9, 2012. If you have any questions, please contact WSA Special Events Chair Tyann Cherry at cherry@webster.edu.
