Colorado Springs Metro and Peterson AFB Campuses Volunteer with Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity

Twenty student, alumni, faculty and staff volunteers from Webster’s Colorado Springs and Peterson Air Force Base campuses participated in Webster Works Worldwide 17 by helping build “decent, affordable” houses with Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity. The volunteers spent over 93 hours working on the houses. Even though some had construction experience, the Habitat for Humanity supervisors trained them on each day’s tasks. They put up drywall, painted trim and interior rooms. “We met the future homeowners and had a great time helping,” says one volunteer.

Webster University’s Colorado Springs campus was a sponsor at the In Their Honor Air Show Sept. 24 and 25 at the Colorado Springs Airport. The show celebrates America’s 21st century heroes – our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines. “These men and women perform their duties often in far-off lands away from family and friends,” says Colorado Springs CRC Laraine Saldivar Gillespie.

“They stand in defense of freedom, doing the hard and dangerous work to bring peace and stability to a troubled world, and have made America the world’s best hope for freedom and lasting peace.”
