Eighteen Webster University faculty and staff attended Maryville University’s 3rd Annual Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is a form of research in which faculty evaluate teaching strategies and methods using measurements of student learning.
The theme of the conference was: Integrating the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning into Academic Culture by asking: Who are our Learners? What are they Learning? How do We Know it? How do we shift from a teaching to a learning culture?

Maria Gonzalez, Eric Goedereis, Heather Mitchell, Danielle MacCartney and Jorge Oliver
The two-day conference featured keynote presenters who shared research on how students and teachers have worked together to improve learning, as well as small group sessions on individual SoTL projects.
Webster faculty members who are interested in the Scholarship of Teaching in Learning, or in learning more about other’s teaching, are invited to the monthly meeting of the Reflective Teaching Community on Oct. 14 from noon – 1 p.m. in the Faculty Development Center (Emerson Library, Room 420).
