Community Journalism Panel: “The Future is Local”

The Community Journalism Program and the Society of Professional Journalists student chapter at Webster University, hosts a panel discussion featuring journalists currently working in the field of local journalism.

Date/Time: Friday, Oct. 11, 11 a.m.
Location: University Center, Sunnen Lounge
Admission: Free

Panel members include:

• Bill Miller Jr, editor, Washington Missourian Newspapers
Don Corrigan, publisher, Times Newspapers, West End Word
Jill Moon, Webster alumna, Lifestyle/Special Section editor, Alton Telegraph
• Peggy Bess, editor, Leader Newspapers of Festus/Crystal City

Ed Bishop, journalism professor, will serve as moderator for a discussion of the importance of local and community newspapers in today’s globalized media. The panel will also explore the value for students to have the skills to report on local governments, boards of education and other community-oriented news.
