Izzy Sherfy, a senior Webster University defender from Pattonville High School, has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 19-25.

This is Sherfy’s third selection since the SLIAC began recognizing defensive players in 2009. Sherfy played in all 290 minutes in the Gorloks’ three games this past week.

Sherfy, who is one of the anchors on the Webster defense, helped the Gorloks post two shutouts. Webster battled Millikin University to a 0-0 double overtime draw, ending the Big Blue’s five-game winning streak.  Webster also defeated North Central College, 1-0, on the road.

The lone goal given up by the Gorloks was on a free kick in a 1-0 loss at Dominican University (Ill.).  Prior to that goal, Webster had shut out their opponents for 238 minutes.
