The Gorlok leads new students, orientation staff and volunteers in the Quad.

As the first week of Fall undergraduate classes completes, so too does Welcome Week at the Webster Groves campus, a week of activities introducing new students and welcoming back returning ones.

Harlan Cohen at Webster Orientation 2011

Author Harlan Cohen entertained and reassured parents as they sent their students off to college.

With new students moving in and going through orientation at Webster campuses throughout the world, New Student Orientation (NSO) at the Webster Groves campus welcomed 550 new Webster students.

They were joined by roughly 350 parents and other family members who wished them well last weekend and participated in some activities designed specifically for them.

Several parents spoke highly of Harlan Cohen, author of “The Happiest Kid on Campus,” whose entertaining presentation helped prepare them for their students’ first-year college experience.

NSO’s success was made possible by 32 orientation staff members, more than 100 faculty, staff and administrators, and 50 student volunteers who helped throughout the three-day event.

Congratulations and thanks to everyone who helped welcome new students and parents to the Webster family throughout this important first week!
