Webster University Named a ‘Great College to Work For’ for Fourth Consecutive Year

Honor by The Chronicle of Higher Education puts Webster in Elite Company

ST. LOUIS, Aug.1, 2011 — Webster University is one of the best colleges to work for, according to the fourth annual workplace survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education – one of the most respected publications serving the academic community. Webster has received top honors in The Chronicle’s annual survey every year since its inception in 2008.

The results, released in The Chronicle’s report entitled “The Academic Workplace,” are based on a survey of more than 44,000 employees at 310 colleges and universities. In all, only 111 institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with Webster included among the large universities with 10,000 or more students.

“It’s such an honor to receive this distinction from The Chronicle of Higher Education, especially for the fourth consecutive year,” said Webster University President Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble. “The work culture throughout our worldwide Webster University community is built on a strong foundation that fosters dialogue, respect, understanding and leadership.”

Webster won special honors this year for its excellent teaching environment and for the clarity of its tenure requirements and process. “Investing in our people is critical to the future of Webster,” Stroble said. “They create the innovative and high-quality teaching and learning environment in which our students thrive.”
