Martha Hart
From Jeffrey Carter, chair, Department of Music:
Webster University recently concluded a search for a newly-created line for Assistant Professor of Voice. We are delighted to announce that Martha Hart has accepted our offer to join the distinguished faculty of the Department of Music at Webster University. Martha’s particularly impressive resumé includes numerous solo performances with the late Robert Shaw and a commitment to American song and women composers. Her experience in oratorio and art song performance complements our existing focuses and student achievements. Her discography, background in song study and creative recital programming, and clear enjoyment of chamber music performance are all assets to our program.
Martha is currently on the faculty of The Ohio State University. She previously served as artist-in-residence and voice teacher at Graceland University in Iowa. She holds a graduate degree in voice from Michigan State University. We send thanks to the search committee of Carole Gaspar, Daniel Schene, Glen Bauer, Trent Patterson and Dee Pavelka. Their hard work has helped us bring in a supremely talented artist and pedagogue as we continue to move toward a national profile for the Webster University Department of Music.
