April 4: ‘Cool Jazz Retrospective’ Shepard & Davis Benefit Concert

The April 4 “Cool Jazz Retrospective” concert, in support of the Suzy Shepard and Donald O. Davis endowed jazz scholarships, includes a repertoire associated with the 1940s-50s period in jazz.

Date/Time: Monday, April 4, 7 p.m.
Location: Winifred Moore Auditorium
Admission: $10 at the door; students free with ID.

The concert will include works associated with jazz artists: Lennie Tristano, Gerry Mulligan, Dave Brubeck, Jim Hall, John Lewis, Art Farmer, Chet Baker, Paul Desmond, Clifford Brown, Stan Getz and Jimmy Guiffre.

The ensemble includes: Randy Holmes on trumpet, Paul DeMarinis on saxophones, Steve Schenkel on guitar, Kim Portnoy and Carolbeth True on piano, Willem von Hombracht on bass, and Kevin Gianino on drums. For more information, call 314-968-7032.
