Former English Chair Reta Madsen Suffers Stroke

| February 24, 2011

The College of Arts & Sciences has received word that longtime English professor and former department chair Reta Madsen has suffered a massive stroke and is on life support at a New York hospital.

“We are devastated by this news about Reta,” said David Carl Wilson, dean, College of Arts & Sciences. “I can think of no one who is more loved and respected throughout the Webster community. Her teaching, leadership, and guidance have been second to none. As our English faculty are fond of pointing out, their department is the house that Reta built. We will keep everyone apprised of her condition.”
