Big Band Concert Nov. 22: Jones, Goodwin, Sturm, more

The Webster University Big Band, under the direction of James A. Martin, will perform three classic Big Band compositions by Thad Jones (written 1963 – 1973) including “Big Dipper;” three early Gordon Goodwin compositions (1979 and 1980) including “Raise My Rent,” Fred Sturm’s fiery “Uppin’ Adam” (2003), Manny Mendelson’s haunting arrangement of John Coltrane’s “Naima” and many more, including “Mr. Fonebone” from the library of Bob Mintzer.

Time: Monday, Nov. 22, 7 p.m.
Place/Admission: Winifred Moore Auditorium, $3 at the door
