Nov. 3 Film Screening: “Camp Unity”
The award-winning Camp Unity documents an American arts academy in Iraq Kurdistan where a diverse group of students unite through hip hop, jazz, orchestra and Broadway. Arabs and Kurds, Christians and Muslims, Americans and Iraqi students combine forces to put on gala shows in local communities. The film offers a unique opportunity to look beyond the violent and sensational images of Iraq commonly used by the media and see beauty emerge from chaos. Sponsored by the Department of Music.
