The deadline (February 24, 2012) for submitting abstract proposals has now passed. Please consider submitting a proposal to our conference next year.
Webster University Sustainability Coalition is proud to announce the first annual sustainability conference!
The conference is scheduled for Monday, April 16th and will take place on Webster University’s campus in Webster Groves, MO. Dr. Paul Rowland, Executive Director of AASHE (Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education) will be the keynote speaker, joined by other speakers and presenters from the Midwest and St. Louis area.
The theme for the conference is the state of sustainability in higher education and our role in society as we strive towards global citizenship as organizations and as individuals.
Responsible stewardship of the environment, encouraging creativity and scholarship, and strengthening our communities underpins global citizenship and individual excellence – those things that define our place in the world. The Webster University Sustainability Conference aims to create a forum for transdisciplinary discussion and a place for publication of innovative practices, scholarly work, and ideas for sustainability research, practice, curriculum, and opportunities for growth across campuses, organizations and with the community.
The overarching dimensions of sustainability the conference is considering are:
• Environmental sustainability
• Social sustainability
• Economic sustainability
• Cultural Sustainability
• Human Rights
We invite submissions for presentations and posters from all St. Louis area universities and colleges’ students, faculty, staff, and administrators, civic and government organizations, non-profits, and companies.
