What advice has been most helpful for you? Get enough rest and make sure to manage the time you have. I have found that these two go hand in hand because if I make sure that I do my homework during the day, I will have more time to rest. It just makes the whole experience less stressful.
What has been your best on campus experience? It is hard to narrow to just one event, but I really enjoyed the homecoming activities this past weekend. I attended President Stroble’s Inauguration Ceremony, which was a wonderful experience; it was really amazing to take part in the making of Webster history. Also, the carnival was really fun! The rides and games were a great way to spend the afternoon. The whole weekend was a great time!
What has been your worst on campus experience? My worst experience was probably hurting my toe during orientation, but other than that, I have been pretty bad experience free!
Is your current workload with classes more or less than you thought it would be? I think it is quite a bit less than I had expected, but it definitely is not light. It is all how you budget your time that really defines how the workload affects your life. If you manage it, and don’t let it build up, it is really manageable.
What do your weekends usually consist of doing? My friends and I watch a lot of movies in our lounge, and mostly just catch up on the sleep that we lack throughout the week. The weekends are like the “nap time” for the week. Also, I try to prepare for the week ahead by doing some homework, washing dishes, and cleaning up the room. Basically I do all of the things I don’t necessarily have time to during the week.
What do you most miss about high school and/or living at home? I definitely miss my family the most. It has been really weird not being able to just walk downstairs and talk to my brother or parents. There is always the phone or Skype, but it just isn’t the same. I also miss my dog, Julie, very much.
Do you have an on-campus job? If so, where/how many hours a week? I don’t currently have an on campus job, but I will be looking for one for the spring semester. Hopefully I will be able to get a job working at the pool as a lifeguard!
Favorite aspects of campus life? All of the freedom. I am really responsible for myself in college, and the need to do my own laundry, get some groceries, keep my room and bathroom clean, and making decisions for myself is awesome. I do things according to my schedule and I can’t just have my parents do it for me. It is helping my transition into adulthood, and forcing me to make good decisions for myself.
What’s on your desk right now? A coaster, a water bottle, a lamp, binders, a notebook, my iPod, my printer, books, a rubber duck, a Gorlok, a piggy bank, a day calendar and a candy jar filled with candy pumpkins for fall!
