Accessing electronic books in gerontology

Webster students and faculty in the gerontology program have access to numerous electronic books through the library’s website. In this article, I will highlight two ways you can access ebooks.

One source of ebooks is the library’s catalog. Books we purchase individually are listed in the catalog whether they are electronic or paper. To search for ebooks in the library catalog:

1. Go to the library’s home page at http://library.webster.edu.
2. Click on ebooks in the “Look for” section at the top left of the screen.
3. You will be taken to our ebooks search page where you can put in a topic and the computer will search the catalog for ebooks on that topic.
4. Once you get a list of ebooks, click on the title of the book to find a link to the book.

Another source of ebooks is a database called PsycBooks. To search this resource:

1. Go to the library’s home page at http://library.webster.edu.
2. Click on Articles/Databases in the “Look for” section at the top left of the screen.
3. Look for the list of subject areas. Click on “Psychology, Counseling, and Social Sciences”.
4. On the page that appears, scroll down and click on PsycBooks.

Thousands of ebooks are accessible through your computer from the Webster University Library web site.
