May graduate Helena Lam will be leaving for Japan in late July to work as an assistant language teacher at public schools in that country’s Yamaguchi prefecture, thanks to the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme.

Lam, who received a B.S. in Biology and minored in Japanese, was accepted into the JET Programme this spring. The selective, government-run program, now in its 26th year, promotes grass-roots international exchange between Japan and other countries.
