April 11, 2012
ST. LOUIS, Mo.– With the help of over 80 student, faculty, and staff volunteers, the Webster University Campus Activities department assembled the World’s Longest Ice Cream Dessert today on the home campus of Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. The official measurement was given by Jared Minnick of Minnick Surveying at 200.3 ft, surpassing the existing record of 152.2 feet by just under 48 feet. The giant sundae consisted of 456 pounds of vanilla ice cream, eight pounds of cherries and fourteen pounds of rainbow sprinkles, all assembled by Webster students, faculty, and staff in under 15 minutes.
Webster University will wait to receive the final verdict from Guinness World Records after they complete their official review, which should take three to four weeks.
The creation of the sundae took place at the “Reel Big Event” hosted by Campus Activities in conjunction with Springfest week. The event included free food for students, an inflatable obstacle course, and photo booth. Springfest’s pinnacle event, the Spring Concert, features Reel Big Fish, a ska band from California. Admission to this event is free for current students, $5 for faculty and staff, and $15 for the general public.
